This course is offered as either a pure, e-learning experience or with a 90-minute one-on-one coaching session with a conflict expert.

  • Learn a functional definition of conflict, as well as the possible outcomes and common stages

  • Understand the five Kraybill Conflict Styles, the benefits and drawbacks of each, and how to use them effectively

  • Learn your own conflict style utilizing the Style Matters: The Kraybill Conflict Style assessment

  • Examine the body's and brain's responses to the stress of conflict, how to recognize when a physical or emotional response is escalating, and strategies for managing this stress

  • Discover how conflict can be functional and useful for strengthening relationships and teams, including concrete tools to handle conflicts in the workplace effectively

SHRM Professional Development Credits

SHRM stands for the Society of Human Resource Management. HR professionals who want to maintain SHRM's rigorous certifications must take 60 hours of Professional Development Credits (PDCs) every three years.

Enrollees completing this course will receive a certificate with the required code to submit on the SHRM recertification portal.

Laura Bowles

Laura Bowles is the owner of The New Normal, LLC. As a Career and Conflict Coach, Laura primarily partners with women as they move through life’s many phases and define success for themselves, both in the personal and professional space. Laura believes that we each bring a distinct set of leadership skills with us when we show up at work and at home. Recognizing, cultivating, and embracing those skills is the only way to thrive and design a life of purpose. Laura draws on her education, nonprofit, and government experience as a parent educator, employment counselor, program manager, and certified mediator to provide coaching and training for individuals and groups. Laura earned her undergraduate degree at the College of William and Mary, trained as a Leadership Coach at George Mason University, and is credentialed as an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation.
